BeYu Cashmere Lip Color Matt 92 Smooth Marsala

BeYu has several matte lip products in their selection, like Color Biggies (my favourite) and regular mat lipsticks, but these are their version of liquid lipsticks. I wouldn’t call these completely classical for their category, but you still get a very pigmented lip colour that’s comfortable to wear.  Texture: Formula is quite literally a mousse and similar to Bourjois’ Nude-ist (just that shade from the range, as almost every one is different). This creates a special type of matte finish that to me looks more natural than most matte liquid lipsticks, but unlike Nude-ist this doesn’t set as matte in time (you can try blotting it for a matte effect). ...

Empties #24

Makeup COLLECTION Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer I think this is still one of the best drugstore concealers, especially when it comes to high coverage. I’ve used up a few of these, though they aren’t easy to get. I have the shade Fair which is appropriately light and fits me ok. It covers a lot, so I use this one for spots, stronger redness and under the eyes when I feel I look extra tired. But it can look obvious on dry skin that’s one of its rare minuses. The packaging is a minus too because while I like the doe foot applicator, the cap breaks every time. Repurchase: Yes. ...

Essence New Products for Spring/Summer 2017. Reviews and Swatches

Instant Matt foundation 10 Matt Ivory Essence’s other matte foundation, All About Matte, got replaced with this one called Instant Matte. It claims to be long-lasting (a bold up to 18h claim), waterproof and that it has full coverage.  Texture: It’s a very thick, almost paste-like foundation, but with a dry matte texture. Those mousse foundations come to mind when I use this and I had difficulties blending around the edges because it’s thick and it sets fast, so you have little time to work with it. It looks awful on close inspection on my currently combination-dry skin. It’s flaky and uneven, the only word I can come up with ...

1. SKINFOOD Black Sugar Mask Wash off and Black Sugar Honey The original Black Sugar mask is on almost all the lists of best Korean skincare products and even when I was asking for recommendations, this was mentioned first. It’s a sugar scrub and it apparently leaves your skin baby smooth – something my skin hasn’t been in a very long time. I’m actually more drawn to the Honey version, but I hear it’s more gentle. Jolse, $8.78 (free shipping) // Tester Korea, 5.56 € // RoseRoseShop, $5.20 // Beautynetkorea, $9.38 // eBay, from $7.81 2. SECRET KEY Starting Treatment Essence First essences are a very new thing to me, ...

Apricot Almond Energy Bites

Raw energy nibbles are frequently on hand in my kitchen. Easy to make up, all kinds of varieties and combinations can be used to make up healthy bites that make for a good accompaniment to breakfast or for a snack when a little burst of energy is needed. Dried fruits, nuts and seeds are always a good choice, and all three feature in this easy and forgiving recipe. Since I find myself munching on dried apricots frequently throughout the day, along with small handfuls of almonds, I decided to combine the two. I added some orange juice for a subtle citrus-y undertone the complements the nutty sweetness of the other ...

Catrice Prime & Fine Make Up Transformer Drops Lightening

Hopes were high for these drops, probably not just mine, as it’s one of the very rare such products in our drugstores. 90% of the time I mix my foundations because a majority of my good foundations are too dark for my pale skin and the ones that actually fit me, suck (Maybelline, Rimmel, Manhattan). So I mix them together and get a semi-decent foundation. I was dead set on getting this, even though as soon as I saw it on Instagram Stories from the German Essence event, I had my doubts about it. Two versions exist – the Lightening one and the Darkening one. I’m not sure about the ...

New in the Drugstore: L’Oreal XFiber and Paint it Loud. Swatches and Reviews

New L’Oreal products already hit the shelves in the past month, so I got them to review and of course swatch. I just chucked everything in one post, so ahead are a lot of pictures, but I hope you find them helpful. Among the new products by L’Oreal are Lip Paints which are available in Matte and Lacquer finish. The formulas are different, but the packaging is the same and both come in tubes with a doe foot applicator that is cut in a curve which fits the contours of the lips. All Paints have a sweet floral fragrance that isn’t overpowering. Both versions cost 7.99 € in Slovenia. Swatches ...

My Beauty Box EU February

It’s been a long time since I last shared a My Beauty Box, but in the mean time they expanded to other markets and their boxes are now available all over Europe plus as far as I know also worldwide. February’s box, which is still available by the way, is like last year’s, Valentine inspired. There are six items in the box: two full sizes, two travel sizes and two satchel masks. It costs 12 € + shipping which varies depending on the country, but if you subscribe to it monthly it’s 20% off. It’s still packaged beautifully in a violet box with pretty tissue paper and bows, so they ...

No Croutons Required. March edition.

It’s my turn to host NCR again. As many regular readers will know, this is a monthly event focusing on vegetarian soups and salads, alternately hosted by my good friend Jacqueline of Tinned Tomatoes and myself. There is a feeling of Spring in the air, so maybe we can expect more salads than soups. But, soup is welcome anytime of year as far as I am concerned. To participate, all you need to do is make a soup or salad that is suitable for vegetarians. Add you recipe using the linky tool at the end of this post and make sure to link back to Jac’s blog and mine as ...

My Legume Love Affair #105 – March 2017

I’m pleased yet again to be hosting My Legume Love Affair. This ongoing event was started by lovely Susan of The Well Seasoned Cook, and passed over to me to administer. Great thanks for the support other bloggers have shown by sharing recipes and guest hosting. Legumes are a mainstay of my vegetarian diet and I never tire of finding new ideas. To join in the fun, all you need to do is prepare a legume-centric dish. Link back to this announcement, my blog and also Susan’s blog, as she is the original founder of the event. Share your creation using the linky tool at the end of this post ...
